BENEDICTO’S STORY
Because of your generosity, lives like Benedicto’s are being saved every day at Lacor Hospital.
Benedicto Opio is a 29-year-old father of two, a man known for his generosity and willingness to help others. To his children, he is a storyteller who turns bedtime into adventure. To his mother, he is the son who carries the family’s burdens without complaint. And to his community, he is the neighbor everyone can count on.
One evening, Benedicto acted as a Good Samaritan, stepping in to help a teenager in trouble. In doing so, he was severely injured. His condition was critical, and his family feared the worst. After initial treatment at both a local clinic and a regional hospital, Benedicto was referred to Lacor Hospital for specialized care that could save his life.
When he arrived at Lacor, he was barely able to move and unable to speak. A medical team immediately performed emergency brain surgery to repair a fractured skull and stop internal bleeding. The operation lasted ninety minutes, and he was transferred directly to the Intensive Care Unit. Within days, he began to show remarkable improvement.
Today, Benedicto is home with his family. Though his recovery will take time, he is no longer in immediate danger. He continues to visit Lacor every two weeks for follow-up care and rehabilitation, and his speech improves each day. His doctors remain optimistic that he will make a full recovery.
Stories like Benedicto’s remind us why Lacor Hospital exists — and why your support matters so much. Every gift helps ensure that daily care remains affordable for all who need it, and that when the unimaginable happens, skilled doctors and advanced equipment are already in place.
